Bring a piece of cultural storytelling into your space with this museum-quality art print by Nada Abouelmaati.
Inspired by the Egyptian proverb “اللي اختشوا ماتوا,” the design features steam, ghost-like figures, and nostalgic hammam elements that highlight the humor and history behind the saying which translates to "those who felt shame/were shy, died" and which comes from a tale of people who stayed inside a hammam during a fire because they were too shy to leave, and did not make it out. It’s essentially a humorous or sarcastic way of saying: “If you're too shy, you'll miss out...or worse!”
Nada reimagines the story with vintage hammam vibes, steam, and bashful ghost-like figures, giving it a playful spin on cultural storytelling, irony, and nostalgia.
